New Delhi: The administration has started taking strict steps to stop black marketing of petrol, diesel and LPG in the state. On Friday, enforcement teams conducted a massive investigation operation across the state. During this period, when irregularities were noticed at many places, FIRs were registered and some people were also arrested.
The government says that constant monitoring is being done to ensure smooth supply of fuel and gas so that consumers do not face any kind of problem.
Food and Logistics Department teams inspected and raided 1,483 places across the state on Friday. During the investigation, many cases of black marketing and irregularities in distribution of LPG gas came to light. In some of these cases, strict action was taken and legal steps were taken against the people concerned.
Four FIRs were registered against LPG distributors after irregularities were found during investigation. Apart from this, 20 cases were also registered against other people involved in black marketing of gas. During the action, six people were arrested from the spot, while the process of prosecution has been initiated against 19 people.
A 24-hour control room has been set up in the Food Commissioner's office to monitor the supply of fuel and gas. From here, information related to distribution of petroleum products is being continuously collected and problems are being solved.
Apart from this, duty of departmental officers and employees has also been imposed in the home control room. Monitoring arrangements have been made by creating separate control rooms in the districts also.
According to the Food and Logistics Department, there is sufficient availability of LPG gas in the state. Cylinders are being delivered to consumers as per their booking through 4,108 LPG distributors operating in the state. Distributors currently have adequate stock of gas cylinders.
The government has also made arrangements for allocation of commercial cylinders keeping in mind the needs of hotels, restaurants and other commercial establishments. Allocation of up to 20 percent of the total consumption of commercial cylinders has been allowed by the government of India so that business activities are not affected and gas supply remains normal.
